Our partner, Courtenay Poulden, was recently selected to represent the English Rugby Union team as its legal counsel during its tour of Australia.
This appointment followed a number of recent appointments for Mr Poulden in the world of rugby. He was one of the five panel lawyers appointed during the 2003 World Cup in Australia. During that tournament he appeared for the electrifying Fijian winger, Rupini Caucauribuca, following an incident in the World Cup opener against France.
During the 2005 Super 12, Mr Poulden was appointed as a member of the judiciary during Super 12 games including the highlight Sydney clash between the Waratahs and the Crusaders. He has formerly appeared on behalf of the Otago Highlanders and most recently on behalf of the Cheetahs from Orange Free State, South Africa in this years Super 14.
Mr Poulden is a member of the Appeal Tribunal of the New South Wales Rugby Union and regularly appears in player disputes and disciplinary matters including most recently the appeal of Wallaby front rower, Matt Dunning.
